BusinessProductivityDo It Today

“In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. That means we have 1,440 daily opportunities to make a positive impact.” Les Brown

We don’t live in a vacuum. The world around us is changing all the time. These changes will impact on how we work and how we spend each of those 1,440 minutes. This is a reason to recognise the importance of today, as opposed to waiting for the future.

Given this dynamic environment around us, I like to assume and embrace that we have a unique opportunity at any one time. There will be things that you can do today that you couldn’t do yesterday and will no longer be available to make the most of tomorrow.

Sometimes these are the small things. Perhaps take the opportunity to stop and talk to someone at an event or on public transport, you don’t know where that conversation may lead. At a minimum, it is likely to create an opportunity for you to learn something but it may also lead you to take action in some unanticipated way. That particular situation will not preset itself again.

At a larger scale, people like you initiate movements. They decide that they will use those minutes today and tomorrow to pull together a community to make a change, they ask for help and create a plan. Every community project or social movement started this way.
